As part of its ongoing collaboration with TiE to promote entrepreneurship, innovation, and business leadership, ISME hosted a Faculty Development Programme titled “An Entrepreneurship Primer – Understanding Business Building and Entrepreneurship in the Age of AI.” The programme focused on building an entrepreneurial mindset and understanding how emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), are transforming entrepreneurship and business creation.
The session was led by Mr. Santhosh SS, a serial entrepreneur, investor, and mentor, who provided practical insights into the entrepreneurial journey—from identifying business opportunities and validating ideas to developing sustainable business models. Participants were introduced to Lean Canvas, a practical framework for evaluating business ideas, understanding customer needs, identifying key challenges, and developing viable business propositions.
Building an Entrepreneurial Mindset in the Age of AI
The programme explored entrepreneurship beyond the traditional concept of starting a business. It highlighted the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset, innovative thinking, opportunity recognition, creativity, problem-solving, adaptability, and technology-driven decision-making in today’s rapidly evolving business environment.
A key focus of the programme was learning by doing. Through interactive activities, practical exercises, and discussions, faculty members explored how to identify opportunities, approach problems from different perspectives, generate innovative ideas, and transform concepts into potential business opportunities.
Experiential Learning and Innovation
The interactive nature of the session enabled participants to apply entrepreneurial concepts to practical situations. Faculty members gained a deeper understanding of business model development, opportunity identification, innovation, Lean Canvas methodology, and the role of AI in entrepreneurship.
The programme also highlighted how AI can support entrepreneurs in areas such as ideation, market research, problem-solving, customer understanding, innovation, and business decision-making. These insights are increasingly relevant for educators preparing students to navigate a technology-driven business ecosystem.
Strengthening Entrepreneurship Education at ISME
The Faculty Development Programme reflects ISME’s commitment to strengthening entrepreneurship education, innovation, experiential learning, and industry engagement. By exposing faculty members to contemporary entrepreneurial practices and AI-driven business opportunities, the programme contributes to creating a stronger ecosystem for entrepreneurship and innovation on campus.
The session reinforced a key message for the age of AI: entrepreneurship is not simply about starting a business—it is about recognising change, identifying opportunities, solving meaningful problems, embracing technology, and creating sustainable value.
